Traditional phone systems can match most of the features and functions offered by the latest generation of IP based platforms with a few exceptions. With near "Plug and Play" installation and no other upgrade requirements, Toshiba's Gateway products eliminate one of the gaps. With Toshiba VoIP solution companies can divert a large portion of their inter-office voice traffic onto an existing IP network such as the Internet or a Corporate Intranet. Significant cost savings can be realized through reductions in local and long-distance toll charges and the number of required CO lines. Expensive T1 circuits requiring dedicated bandwidth for carrying voice can be eliminated. Existing applications, like voice mail, are not affected and voice quality is maintained.
